WIA is the DOL’s contracted Industry Intermediary tasked with working with telecommunications companies to expand Registered Apprenticeships. Through TIRAP, WIA provides companies with the resources, guidance, and support to improve and formalize their training programs, expediting employer adoption of Registered Apprenticeship Programs and enabling them to offer a national credential through the DOL.
When you join our program, you have access to a program that leverages an existing framework created by WIA and other industry experts.
Convene broadband employers—including national companies as well as local contractors— to identify high-demand occupations, validate competencies, and expand Registered Apprenticeships for broadband
Provide technical support and resources to help companies establish on-the-job training as well as classroom learning for their apprenticeships
Build pre-apprenticeship and youth apprenticeship programs in technical schools and community colleges
Administer incentive funding for employers adopting and expanding the Registered Apprenticeship model for broadband occupations
These services include a web-based platform to track the apprenticeship as well as providing college credits for Telecommunication Tower Technician apprentices that complete their apprenticeships.
Registered TIRAP Employers enjoy complimentary access to ApprentiScope’s Employer-Sponsor Platform. This platform helps employers running Registered Apprenticeships by simplifying Apprentice onboarding, streamlining OJT & RTI tracking, centralizing performance evaluations, and automating compliance workflows.
Apprentices participating in WIA’s Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship program (TIRAP) will have a chance to earn college credits, thanks to recommendations by the American Council on Education (ACE). ACE is officially recommending that apprentices completing the Telecommunications Tower Technician (TTT) program earn 14 or more credits at community colleges nationwide. (That’s almost a quarter of the way toward an associate degree.) These credits can be access through the Credly platform.
Credly offers a digital badge and access to the college credentials which have been approved through the American Council on Education.
