ARLINGTON, Va. – The Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP) is pleased to release its Telecommunications Tower Technician Mentoring & Education Guide. This resource is designed to support participating employers, apprentices, and apprentices’ mentors in developing Telecommunications Tower Technicians to serve the needs of the telecommunications workforce. The Wireless Infrastructure Association is the National Sponsor of TIRAP.
“Successful completion of apprenticeships is crucial for the development of the workforce in the telecommunications industry,” said TIRAP Chairperson David Sams. “An apprenticeship is a proven path for structured on-the-job learning to develop a skilled worker. The Telecommunications Tower Technician Mentoring & Education Guide will be an indispensable tool for companies striving to develop their employees’ skill sets to build future wireless networks.”
This guide provides illustrative examples of tasks for employers and mentors to use and serves a dual purpose by assisting both mentors and apprentices in documenting the progression of the apprentice in key skills, knowledge, and competency.
